Thank you Rachel…

I could not believe my eyes when I saw this beautiful, heart warming, touching  post created by Rachel. She is such a busy woman! To find the time,  I have been speechless to say the least and in tears! HAPPY tears that is!!! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with Rachel Ashwell these past few weeks while she creates her latest book, due out in October! I can not wait for this BOOK!!!
image
What an incredible experience to see how her artistic, creative talents went to work and how she creates the Shabby Chic lifestyle that we all know and LOVE! I was taught so much and consumed myself in this exciting project. But, more importantly I got to know Rachel a lot more.  She is an elegant, sophisticated, real, down to earth person with a heart of gold. She is always thinking of others.

What a privilege it was to see how a book comes together and experience the behind the scene photo shoot moments. I can not tell how how grateful I am to be a part of it,and how many amazing photos I was able to get. Thank you Rachel for taking the time with me, sharing ideas  and thoughts, and for those amazing green milk shakes!  I look forward to many more projects with you and seeing the future of Shabby Chic!
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things
I can not change, courage to change the things I can and
the wisdom to know the difference!
Always in my thoughts.
Thank you Rachel.
Visit Rachel Ashwell blog and see why my heart is soo full!!!
Have a wonderful day!

About Leah

I'm a mom to a sparkly little girl- I hope you get a chance to meet her someday. I'm a wife to a generous and loving man. Not to mention handsome. I'm a student. I will always go to school, take a class, research something and try new things. I'm a creator of things. I'm inspired by other creators. I aspire to have the time and resources to create daily. I take pictures, sew, cook, craft, dream and play. I long to capture every moment on film. Although there are some moments so brief and not worth missing just to grab the camera. I choose wisely. Photographs are priceless. They instantly become part of your history, your story and a documentation of us. I will always take pictures.

Cabbage & Roses Sponsored Valentines Giveaway & Interview with Christina Strutt

I LOVE anything and everything Cabbage & Roses, I especially love the fabric they carry so, when they asked me to be a part of this amazing Valentines giveaway, I couldn’t be happier. The bonus was that I was also able to ask the the talented Christina Strutt a few question about decorating for Valentines day!  Enjoy and Happy Valentines day to you!!!.

Q:  The name cabbage and roses is so special, what inspired you to come up with such a beautiful name?

A: I wanted a company that created beautiful products, and cabbages and roses are two of natures most beautiful products, which

At the conception of the company were two things that were growing in my garden – particularly successfully!.

Q :What inspires you to create such romantic fabrics?

A: Romance is in the eye of the beholder, we create beautiful fabrics if people find them romantic then that is an added benefit.

Q: What creates a romantic atmosphere?

A: People, attitude, seeing and feeling things that are not obvious, thoughtfulness and attention to detail.

Q: Who or where do you look most to for inspiration?

A: I find inspiration everywhere it could be a button detail which is the beginning of a collection or an old ruin with flaking paint and torn wallpaper.

I think the key is to keep your eyes and mind open as you never know where inspiration might fly out at you

Q : Do you have favorite designers and authors?

A: Proust, Evelyn Waugh, Voltaire, Nancy Mitford, Thackeray (writers).  Designers Comme des Garcons, Kenzo, Sonia Rykiel  Junya Watanabe, (designers )

Terence Conran,  Maureen Docherty, Chester Jones

Q : Decorating for Valentine's day can be difficult.  What are some tips you can share with us when decorating for Valentines day.

A: Valentines day in England does not have quite the same importance as it does in the America. We tend to be low key

(possibly because we have low expectations!!) we go as far as sending anonymous cards and possibly flowers!!!.

The idea of actually decorating the house for the occasion is, sadly, unheard of In England.  However I would suggest

Heavenly scented candles, pillar candles everywhere and no electric light whatsoever

Q: You are so talented and I loved your latest book. Will there be more books of your wonderful inspirations?

A: Thank you so much, I love doing books and hopefully there will be many more!!

                               x x Christina

Thank you so much Christina!

Ok, here is the giveaway everyone!  A French Toile Raspberry Laundry Bag, C&R candle (which smells heavenly), and a beautiful notebook! Which I already ordered one for myself! image

A Simple Salad & Valentine’s Classic

Hi everyone! I wanted to share this simple organic chicken salad with a fresh dressing.

Someone special made this for me! So, I made it for you my special friends!

Its so easy and healthy. I will be adding a cooking page to my blog and

also a gardening page,  as well as a few others, With tips and how-to's

I can’t wait to share it with you.

Chocolate Strawberries 118

I try to use organic ingredient’s whenever possible!

Ingredients:

Last nights organic roasted chicken (chopped)

Organic mixed greens (chopped)

Organic sweet tomatoes (quartered)

Organic Cucumbers (sliced)

Simple Dressing:

Olive oil

Lemon Juice

Salt & Pepper ( it is very important to taste as you go)

Sometimes, I top it with organic parmesan cheese,  it is delicious!

For dessert!

I love chocolate covered strawberries. I feel like I am cheating because,

I eat my yummy fruits with a little bit of chocolate and I don’t feel so bad.

I am sure you all know how to melt chocolate on a double boiler, but I wanted

to share how important it is to melt the chocolate on low heat, slowly,

and use a plastic spatula!

Chocolate Strawberries 020

Chocolate Strawberries 022

Chocolate Strawberries 026

I used organic strawberries and often switch between semi sweet

chocolates and Godiva chocolate. Here I used semi sweet.

Yummy, my son loves these.
