“National Moment of Remembrance”

Memorial Day.

“National Moment of Remembrance” resolution was passed in December 2000, which asks that at 3 p.m. local

time all Americans:

“Voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from

whatever they are doing for a moment of silence .” On memorial day.

This is an image I took for a project at school this last semester

of the

Los Angeles National Cemetery.

Daddy Visit-Project 267

In the syllabus it asked my thoughts on gun control but,

more on that project later. Look at the rows and rows of tomb stones!

I felt a calm come over me when I shot this image.  It was peaceful and so sad

at the same time. I would like to say that my family and I are so

grateful for the men and women who have fought for our country! If it wasn’t for

them we would not have so much freedom and such a blessed life!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Kitchen Display 039
I was having some fun in my kitchen and
here is a simple French kitchen display, with roses from our garden.
There are so many blooms this year.
Loving my antique French Cafe Au Lait bowls!!
They are my new favorite thing to collect.
The French drying rack adds a bit of rustic texture.

I love this French, I forgot what you call it…
But, If I remember correctly
it was used to collect
sap or milk. Not sure, I think it adds
the perfect pop of blue in our kitchen!

Remnants of the Past & Happy Mother’s Day

Hello there!

I had a great time this past weekend at the vintage show,  Remnants of the Past
in Nipomo, CA. Judy Watkins did an amazing job, so much work went into this show and, you can see some of it here…. I can’t believe how many people came. It was  a wonderful event and full of eye candy. I was able to get in before the show started to photograph the talented vendors and see what they were all doing.

And… the best part is there will be another Vintage show this coming fall…

Enjoy…

Guest Post today…"Snow White Room Roundups”

Meet Michaela with the Arcadian Home blog she is so kind and I was  happy when she wanted to run a guest post for me. Enjoy…

image

One of the interesting things about designing a snow-white interior, is that depending on your home accessories and furniture, the aesthetic can be either modern, serene or romantic.  How any of these looks are achieved depends on the patterns, textures, and lines/shapes used.  For instance, if you are going for a modern look, use cleanly lined modern furniture and keep the use of pattern to a minimum.  White vintage or antique furniture with lots of pattern works well for the romantic look.

This romantic snow-white room is filled with beautiful antique furniture in a tonal range of whites, creams, and beige.  Get the look with antique furniture by sanding the wood down and painting it white, and reupholstering the fabric in a lush creamy white velvet.

(via)

This living room has something of a modern look, with its stark white sofa, wood floors painted in white and similarly, matte white walls. The black and white wall art adds a bit of drama to the space.

This nook, with its demi-lune table, white flowers and crystal chandelier, is serene and a bit romantic at the same time.

Here is a very modern white kitchen with modular wooden cabinets.

(via)

A modern white dining room is softened by the natural light of the surrounding windows.

(via)

This room is a great example of using and mixing texture in a snow-white interior.  A round, white shag rug, Lucite accent table and accent chairs with different patterns keep the room from looking too boring.

(via)

White bathrooms are always so serene and calming.  Love that white freestanding bathtub.

This is another great example of playing with texture and pattern  in an all-white room.  The wallpaper, the linens, the mirror, even the curtains are all a different texture and yet they work together so beautifully.

You can be as creative with white as you want with any mix of colors. These gorgeous snow-white interiors are proof of that.
